FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions:

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - question

What are the best months for safari in east Africa?

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - Answer

You can go on safari at any time of the year and this depends on individual
interests. Some people will prefer the months when there are few tourists and some will prefer the months with most wildlife and of course lots people.
July, August, September and October are the busiest months because of the migration of wildebeests ( Gnu ) from Tanzania to Maasai mara and back.
November is good because the grass is low, tourist’s numbers are low and you still have lots of animals around.
December is low in tourists numbers as from 01st to 22nd and then the numbers rise due to the Christmas season.
January, February and March are half busy.
April, may are the long rainy season.
In general, you can visit at any month and see lots / all the animals.

Do I have to be in a 4X4 jeep while on safari?

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - Answer

You can comfortably, affordably and conveniently travel in a regular safari minivan 2WD ( two wheel drive ) so long as it's not during the rainy season. However, our company only uses safari minivans that are 4X4 at the same price of the 2WD vans.
If you wish to be in the Land rover / Land cruiser transport category, this costs more. Contact us for upto date advice on the terrain of your route.

Dollars or Euros in east Africa?

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - Answer

Dollars are widely accepted and so are the Euros and sterling pounds.

Make sure that the dollars you bring are NOT printed series 1996 or 1999 or below, on the lower left side of the bill. Only dollars that are from series 2000 and above, are smoothly accepted in paying for safaris, purchase souveniers, pay for entry fees and in banks.

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - question

Do i require a visa for Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda? Is one visa valid for all the countries?

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - Answer

Yes, you require a visa for each individual country even though they are all members of the east African community. You don't need to arrange for visa before, as this can be done efficiently at the airport upon arrival. Costs of the visa may vary depending with your nationality. Some nationalities are not required to pay, however, you can visit Tanzania or Uganda and still come back to Kenya using the same visa so long as it's valid and you didn't visit a non member of the east African community countries.

Is tap water or eating vegetables at the lodges / hotels safe?

East Africa Safari Expeditions - FAQ - Answer

It's advisable that you use / buy only mineral water as we cannot guarantee that some water might not be free of contamination.
